Criticizing the measures of Mir Hosein Mousavi and Hasan Khomeini after the presidential elections, the Secretary of the Judiciary’s Human Rights Office emphasized, “Mousavi was guilty of a great sin after the revolution and launched the reformist faction in the direction of protesting the system.”
According to a report by IRNA’s parliamentary reporter, Mohammad Javad Larijani, in comments made in the Majlis on the occasion of the opening of the Iranian Astronomical Society’s display, referring to the events which arose in the election’s aftermath, said, “Protesting against the election’s results is everyone’s right, but rebelling against the system is not right.”
He added, “If they had kept themselves from being angry after the elections, they would have seen that many of the Hypocrites [Organization of People’s Mojahedin of Iran] and Zionists were applauding their activities.”

Stressing that there must be unity around the system’s defense, Larijani said, “Mousavi was guilty of a great sin after the revolution and launched the reformist faction in the direction of protesting the system.”
He added, “Mousavi has lost his good political future. He could have worked like a good man, but now, the tone of his declarations have taken on that of Masoud Rajavi, and a number of people have made a tactical alliance with His Eminence [Ayatollah Hosein-Ali] Montazeri’s household and fallen into error.”
Stating that the Hypocrites and the Zionists had not supported even Khatami’s people to such a degree, the Vice-President of the Judiciary for International Affairs explained, “Mousavi’s treason to the revolution is of the same kind as Rajavi’s.”
He added, “Mousavi could have been worked like a good man, but now, the tone of his declarations have taken on that of Masoud Rajavi.”
He recalled, “In the course of the Majlis elections, too, some protests arose which were not accepted.”
Mohammad Javad Larijani considers rebellion against the system to be a great crime. Declaring that the enemies are delighted with such acts, he stated, “Protests must not be turned into rebellion against the system.”
In answer to the question, “Are the violations which occurred in arresting people negligible?” he said, “After the elections, we observed two violations. One concerned national security and a group rebelling against the system. The second was committed by the executive and must be investigated.”
Criticism of Hasan Khomeini’s Activities
The Secretary of the Judiciary’s Human Rights Office criticized Sayyed Hasan Khomeini over his post-electoral activities, saying, “The Imam’s Household must protect the Imam’s sanctity and keep its distance from disputes.”
Emphasizing that the Imam’s Household must behave alertly on issues, he said, “His Eminence Sayyed Hasan Khomeini is a smart and clever fellow, but his support for Mir Hosein Mousavi is not something which can remain hidden.”
Referring to the presence of the President and the Cabinet in the Imam’s Sanctuary and Hasan Khomeini’s absence from that ceremony, Larijani said, “This happened at a time when, had he believed in democratic principles, he would have shown respect to the President even if he opposed him.”
He explained, “It is very inappropriate for the Imam’s Household to support a political current which is supported by the Hypocrites and the Zionists and wants to create a secular current in the country.”
The Secretary of the Judiciary’s Human Rights Office explained, “If the Imam’s Household wants to preserve the Imam’s sanctity, it must keep its distance from disputes.”
In response to a question about what the Judiciary’s Human Rights Office was doing about the condition of the arrestees, Larijani said, “Our work is not propagandistic. We are at present keeping the issue under observation. Four years ago, too, we reviewed the condition of prisoners and imprisoned students and professors and freed many of them.”
Larijani added, “We will continue with our measures and our investigations.”
